About hypnosis:

Hypnotherapy is a well- established   short term therapy which can be used for a variety of concerns. It is a form of focussed attention which helps you to manage your feelings and achieve your goals.

It can help with anxiety, depression, pain management, panic attacks, phobias, sleeplessness, stress management, worry and changing habits.

Call me on 07505922518  leave a message I will call you back or email me at fiona.gorman@me.com.

James Braid the founder of clinical hypnosis describes hypnosis like this:

‘The real origin and essence of the hypnotic condition is the induction of a habit of abstraction or mental concentration, in which, as in reverie or spontaneous abstraction, the powers of the mind are so much engrossed with a single idea or train of thought…. to render the individual unconscious of, or indifferently conscious to, all other ideas, impressions, or trains of thought.’ [Braid, 1852: 53-54]

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

Combining hypnotherapy with cognitive behavioural techniques

I am trained in combining traditional hypnotherapy with cognitive behavioural techniques, which can be effective in many settings. Cognitive behavioural therapy is popular in NHS settings as it can sometimes get quick results.

When hypnotherapy will not help:

>> If you are under duress to attend or because someone else wants you to change, you have to want it too.
>> If you have a serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or if you have blackouts.
>> If you are under the influence of drink or non- prescription drugs.
