Hello I am a qualified hypnotherapist and cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist. I have experience of working with people with anxiety, burn out, depression, coping with ill health, self esteem, habit changing, smoking cessation, sleeplessness and work issues.

James Braid the founder of clinical hypnosis describes hypnosis like this:

Combining hypnotherapy with cognitive behavioural techniques
I am trained in combining traditional hypnotherapy with cognitive behavioural techniques, which can be effective in many settings. Cognitive behavioural therapy is popular in NHS settings as it can sometimes get quick results.
When hypnotherapy will not help:
>> If you are under duress to attend or because someone else wants you to change, you have to want it too.
>> If you have a serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or if you have blackouts.
>> If you are under the influence of drink or non- prescription drugs.
